Cynfo Tech
This young, aggressive company was founded by the ruthless and ambitious Ryder Arcadia. Cynfo Tech specializes in cutting-edge cybernetic security technology. Though maintaining a legitimate veneer, the company employs underhanded and illegal methods to stay ahead of the competition. Arcadia has surrounded himself with a very capable staff who often share his amoral approach. Cynfo will play a crucial role in the crisis that engulfs San Lazaro.
Ryder Arcadia
Ryder Arcadia was born in the Midwest and flourished in high school, becoming the football team’s quarterback and captain as well as prom king. He is a Samford MBA graduate and holder of several major college football records. Just three years ago, Ryder founded his cybersecurity startup, Cynfo Technologies. The company quickly achieved success and recently secured Series B funding. Cynfo Tech focuses on cutting-edge, anti hacking technology for cybernetics. The firm employs around 100 employees and there are unconfirmed rumors that Ryder is dating his assistant, Goddess.
Now 29, Ryder is 6’ tall with an athletic build. He can be extremely charming and persuasive, but also arrogant, egotistical and cold. He loves nothing more than making deals and securing funding for Cynfo Tech. His employees find him difficult, because his mood can change in an instant — sometimes, he’s an inspirational leader; sometimes, he’s a tyrant. His ultimate goal is to acquire as much money and power as possible. He intends to run for public office, with the ultimate aim of becoming President of the United States.
Vito “Zephyr” Gomes
Vito was born “Vitoria” in the favelas of Rio with his twin sister Beatriz, called “Beater.” The pair grew up in a very rough neighborhood, losing their parents in a shootout while still only teenagers. They have remained extremely close throughout their lives. The athletic Zephyr became a package runner, delivering goods and messages while avoiding police and rivals. Later moved to the U.S. by the twins’ aunt and uncle, Zephyr continued his criminal career by running drugs, weapons and illicit technology around San Lazaro. During his late 20s, Zephyr no longer felt comfortable presenting as the gender he was assigned at birth, so he decided to transition. Now 40 years old, he is still full of energy and poised for action. As a shrewd negotiator, he has made many lucrative contacts within the city’s criminal underworld. Through one of his contracts, he was introduced to Ryder Arcadia, who, at the time, was in need of resourceful employees. After the successful completion of that contract, Arcadia hired Zephyr and Beater to be his full-time bodyguards.
Beatriz “Beater” Gomes
Beater was born in the favelas of Rio with her twin, Vito, known as Zephyr. The close pair grew up in a very rough neighborhood, losing their parents in a shootout while still only teenagers. Because of her height and love for strength training, Beater soon established herself among the local gangsters as a useful bodyguard. When the twins were moved to the U.S. by their aunt and uncle, she continued this career and also worked as a bouncer in various San Lazaro bars.
When Zephyr decided to transition, Beater was totally supportive. Soon after, the twins founded their own security company. Due to Beatriz’s fighting skill and weapons training, plus Zephyr’s criminal connections and suave style, they swiftly found success. This eventually led to permanent, lucrative jobs with Ryder Arcadia as his personal bodyguard and courier. Even at 40, Beater is still in tip-top shape and is an intimidating presence around Ryder.
Scarlett “Crimson” Young
Born and raised in a medium-sized city in the Midwest, Crimson was temperamental and combative even as a child. After college, she worked as a cook, but also developed a love for fitness. She quickly excelled and soon switched careers to become a successful personal trainer. Obsessed with mixed martial arts, she trained in both Krav Maga and Muay Thai. The ambitious Crimson then completed training courses in firearms, tactical planning and security strategies. After moving to San Lazaro, she began working as a bodyguard for local celebrities, politicians and gangsters. She eventually secured a post as head of security at Cynfo Technology, where her ambitious and ruthless boss keeps her busy.
Crimson is very fit and strong. She wears dark tactical gear, and her most prized possessions are her Kingston Tactics 960X sunglasses, equipped with a HUD and a wide range of sensors. She always carries a Fairfield XD pistol and a collapsible baton.
Now 35, Crimson can be impulsive and hot-tempered. She disapproves of most people, but is fiercely loyal to those she loves. Morality is not particularly important to her. She enjoys the crisis because it provides many opportunities for her to test herself.
Elaheh “Goddess” Mazanderani (الهه مازندرانى)
Goddess was born on the East Coast to Iranian parents and speaks both English and Farsi. Her father was an exiled politician, her mother a model and actress. Goddess was discovered during college by a modelling agency, but she was never fully committed, preferring to focus on family. Recently divorced after a 20-year marriage, she has an 18-year-old daughter. Mithra is now attending college in New Amsterdam, but the pair are still very close.
Goddess works for Ryder Arcadia, whom she met while employed as an administrator at Samford University. Shortly after he graduated with his MBA, Ryder invited Goddess to join him as his office manager and personal assistant at Cynfo Technologies. Despite the age difference, there has always been an intense attraction, though they keep their relationship quiet. Now 45, the 5’10’’ Goddess still looks like a model. Though very capable, she is not afraid to use her beauty to manipulate men. She is not particularly ambitious, but will do what she has to in order to retain her position and provide for herself and Mithra. Since the crisis began, her priority is to survive and reunite with her beloved daughter.
Winston “Winner” Malik
Winner grew up in New Amsterdam, the son of Pakistani immigrants. Despite academic success, he could never do enough to fulfil his parents’ expectations. While still in high school, he saved for college by alerting tech companies to flaws in their security software. Winner graduated from a small Midwest college with a B.S. in Information Systems Security. Bored by his first corporate position (and eager to escape a prospective marriage arranged by his parents), he relocated to San Lazaro for a job with Cynfo Technology.
Now 25, Winner has considerable authority and autonomy within Cynfo. He has put aside ethical concerns to execute some covert operations that advance the company’s interests. Winner wears some custom cybernetics to give himself a slick, hi-tech look. He admires Cynfo chief Ryder Arcadia as a strong leader, and works hard to win his approval. In return, Ryder coined the nickname “Winner” after a series of successes. Winner is obsessed with security infiltration and the exploitation of mistakes made by others; it’s his life’s work.
